Fresh Sermons

What’s in a sermon?

A sermon is more than just words—it’s a call to action, a sacred connection, and an opportunity to reflect, grow, and challenge the way we see the world. Rooted in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, my sermons are unapologetically designed to ignite discovery, inspire hope, and deepen our understanding of faith and community.

Each message is crafted with purpose, drawing from my training at Union Theological Seminary, where I learned the transformative power of queer, feminist, liberation, and disability theologies. These perspectives are essential for creating a faith that is inclusive, authentic, and reflective of the diverse world we live in.

In my sermons, I prioritize the social and historical context of scripture, examining the cultural, political, and religious forces that shaped its creation. This work is vital—it enriches our understanding and allows sacred texts to speak to us in ways that challenge, inform, and inspire us today.

My goal is simple: to make these teachings accessible, relevant, and transformative. Sermons should spark dialogue, deepen faith, and encourage spiritual growth. They are an invitation to think critically, engage fully, and connect deeply with ourselves, our communities, and the Divine.

Shake Off Your Grave Clothes!

“The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, and let him go.’” -John 11:44

What does it mean to truly be free? Often, we embrace a new path yet remain trapped by past hurts, habits, and fears. Jesus' call is clear: He has led you from darkness, but our community must help unbind one another. It's time to shed what holds you back and step into the freedom promised to you. Inspired by the story of the resurrection of Lazarus (John 11) this message a direct challenge to whatever prevents you from truly living. Watch the full sermon to understand how to break free.

Living By Faith When All Seems Lost

“How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, ‘Violence!’ but you do not save?” -Habakkuk 1:2

What do we do when injustice seems to win and our prayers meet a silent ceiling? The prophet Habakkuk shows us that honest dialogue with God can forge a path through despair. This sermon explores how to find hope in difficult times and trust in God's presence, even when it feels distant.

What does it truly mean to create space for the light of God in our lives? The message of Christmas challenges us to pause, reflect, and embrace love, empathy, and peace in a world that too often prioritizes power and control. Are we ready to let go of what weighs us down and make room for real transformation?

The sacred birth of Jesus invites us into a new way of being—one built on justice and compassion. In this sermon, we explore how love can dismantle fear and how even the smallest light has the power to drive out the darkest shadows.
